Mangalam

The beginning with Hecharikagaa was good and the expressions were beautiful. His Thodi was filled with good ragam and bhavam and was very elaborate. Vathapi in Hamsadhwani was sung fast and high energy which was followed by the ragalapanai in Andolika which kept the audience hooked on. To keep the audience from guessing he mentioned the name of the ragam right at the beginning!! Raga sudha rasa was enchanting and Manasa sancharare was very moving.
Ragalapanai in Ananda Bhairavi was excellent followed by O Jagadamba which I heard for the first time. Ranga Baaro again was high energy and I love the ragam. It was way past 9 PM by now but that didn't bother anyone and we could keep listening to him on and on.Saagara shayana vibho was sung on request which was beautifully rendered and a slow song followed by Jagadodhaarana which I completely love when TMK sings it. I thought that Varugalaamo ayya was a wee bit very slow for the time of the concert, but his Vandemataram was good compensation and ended the concert on high energy. All in all, it was an evening filled with delightful, beautiful and fulfilling music.
What I loved about his performance was his involvement with the accompanists as well as interaction with the audience.
